Puerto Rico is a lush tropical island and the pull it exerts over our senses is powerful. It’s foremost about the light, then the water, the colors and forms.
At dawn the light is soft and yellow, at midday the light is full of contrast--bright, intense and alive with power. At dusk, the light is aglow with reds and oranges… softer and more relaxed. The water is ever present for those who live on or near the coast.
Puerto Rico displays all the colors of life, buildings painted in saturated yellows and greens or paler shades of pink and orange as if to complement the colors at dawn and dusk. Flowers, in wild shapes and extravagant colors, the vines and leaves, trunks of trees, and palm fronds are a wild proliferation of curves. Underwater we see echoed the profusion of shapes and colors we see on land. Each bit of coral, no matter its size, seems alive with the stuff of life. Our work in photography and other media is a part of this place in the sun, set in the sea, a gift of Creation.
